Accessibility Statement

We are committed to ensuring that Pod is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We understand that some users may require content in alternative formats, such as an accessible PDF, large print, or audio recording. We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible and we encourage you to contact the relevant department, responsible for the Pod course, if you require content and materials in a different format in the first instance. If you don’t know which department created the course content, please email EdTech@derby-college.ac.uk and we’ll contact the relevant team to resolve this for you. If the course content has not been resolved within 7 days, we will remove the content entirely until it has.

We’re always finding ways to improve the accessibility of Pod but if you find any problems with the site, please contact EdTech@derby-college.ac.uk.

Pod runs on Moodle which is an Open-Source Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Core Moodle 4.0 meets World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) level AA. Pod has an accessibility checker for teachers and content creators in Moodle’s default TinyMCE editor and Atto HTML editor, which checks course content and alerts them to a range of accessibility problems that may be found. Moodle 4.1 also has an accessibility review and toolkit provided by Brickfield which assists teachers and content creators in building course content that is accessible. This checks for common accessibility concerns and gives a report on potential issues found. This report is used by the EdTech team to monitor accessibility issues across all courses.

If you need further assistance with accessibility, AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
